The Idyll Story
Idyll Wine Co. is sited on the original Idyll Vineyards – planted in the late 1960’ by Darryl and Nini Sefton. The vineyard was part of the Moorabool Valley’s renaissance, being the first re-planted after the region had been decimated by phylloxera in the late 1800’s.
Some of those original vines still remain and the vineyard has been redeveloped to include Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier – with am ambitious plan to produce Methode Traditionelle in coming vintages.
The winery itself has been extensively developed over the past decade and has an annual crush capacity of 15,000T. Fruit is drawn from throughout Victoria, New South Wales and South Australia and made on-site to our exacting specifications.
In 2016 Rob and Anthony Costa invested in the company injecting new vigour and capital in the business. The team on the ground prides itself on continually pushing the boundaries of technology, technique and skill in order to produce wines of exceptional expression and quality.
Drawing fruit from a huge selection of vineyards and regions has its challenges. From producing single vineyard wines from some of Australia’s best regions – Barossa Valley, Coonawarra, McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills – to producing exceptional entry value products from warmer inland vineyards – the team at Idyll strive to make distinct wines that are true to their variety and region.
Our style is always to let the fruit shine through and you will see in our tasting notes that “fruit-forward” is a comment that is regularly noted.
Whilst the winemaking team is lucky to have the newest technology at their fingertips, it is their fastidious attention to detail and continual striving for making the best wine possible out of all the fruit delivered that sets them apart.
Vintage after vintage we strive to deliver great value for money wines that will suit most occasions.
